This is every choice I will make.
You stand beside me, a million miles away. I can see the sun filtering in through the windows and I can see, too, the way you smile while reading the messages on your phone. Late afternoon, on a train back home: I will not be here this time next year, if only to understand that no, your happiness cannot be found here.
